Dr. D. Chennappa is a Senior Professor of Commerce at Osmania University, Hyderabad. Additionally, he served as Dean, Faculty of Palamoor, University, Mahatma Gandhi University and Satavahana University. He obtained his M.Com., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees and LLB from Osmania University, Hyderabad, B.Ed from Kakatiya University and MBA from IGNOU. He has 36 years of teaching and research experience. He qualified the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET -1995) and National Eligibility Test (NET-1996) conducted by the UGC, New Delhi. He has been teaching Quantitative Techniques for Business Decisions, Research Methodology, E-COMMERCE and Strategic Management. He undertook four 4 minor and 6 major research projects sponsored by ICSSR, MGNCRE and UGC-New Delhi. He authored 4 books and edited 20 books. He has published 6 papers in International journals and 56 papers in reputed refereed national journals. He organised TEN national seminars and FOUR international Conferences on contemporary topics. He participated in 3 International conferences held in the USA and more than 100 National Seminars held at the national level. Under his supervision 2 M.Phils and 18 Ph.Ds have been awarded. He is a UGC Research Awardee - (2012-14) , Telangana State Best Teacher Awardee (2019, IPA Best Commerce Faculty Award – 2020, and Osmania University Vice Chancellor Awardee -2022.
He is a columnist for Eenadu and Telangana Today, Velugu Daily Newspaper and participates regularly in ETV PRATIDHANI debates. He was Editor-in-Chief for 76 years old UGC Care Listed journal “The Indian Journal of Commerce”, Managing Editor for 25 years old peer reviewed and refereed journal “Osmania Journal of International Business Studies”, Editor for 2 years old refereed journal “International Journal of Applied Commerce and Strategic Management” and “Journal of Dalit Entreprenuership”
Chennappa is a Resource Person for various Academic Staff College in India such as UGC-MHRD Academic Staff College, OU, Hyd; OUCIP, OU, Hyd; MAANU-Central University, Hyderabad; Loyola College, Vijayawada, AP; Academic Staff College, Dr. Marathwada Baba Saheb Ambedkar University, Aurangabad; Bharathidasan, SM, Anna University, Tamil Nadu, Savitri Bhai Phule Pune University, Pune, and Doon University, Uttarakhand.
He is also an external Examiner for PhD thesis adjudication for more than 25 universities, UPSC subject expert, apart from selection committee member for various universities.
Chennappa served as NCC officer, NSS Co-Ordinator, Warden, Vice Principal, and Chief Warden for the university's Mess and Hostels. As a chief Warden, he introduced an Online Hostel admission system in the university in 2013. He served as Chairman of the Board of Studies, at Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda, from 215 to 2017 and introduced an online examination system. He also served as Principal of the University Post Graduate College, Secunderabad, from 2017-2018. As a Principal, Chennappa introduced a complete online payment system in collaboration with the State Bank of India. He introduced biometric attendance for students as well as for staff members. In the history of the college, the first of its kind, the first Academic Award Function was celebrated to distribute the convocation certificates to undergraduate students who served as Principal of the University College of Commerce and Business Management, OU, from 2020 to 2022 and created administrative discipline among the staff members. Recently served as a REGISTRAR, Palamuru University, Mahabubnagar.
In Social life, he is the President of Telangana Teachers Commerce Association and Global Research Welfare Society Publication (ISBN 978-81-910003-0-6), and General Secretary for the university Faculty Club, Osmania University, Hyderabad. He is a Trustee for Sri Sri Sri Vijaya Kanaka Durga Temple.
He is a life member INDO-US Foundation ( INDUS), the Indian Commerce Association and the Indian Accounting Association. His areas of research interest include INSURANCE, E-Commerce, AI, Strategic Management and the Indian Financial System.
